Captain's Match Report

Let me start by saying ‘well done Tim’. Most of you would be unaware of the hassle and stress Tim had dealing with the course organisers. Suffice to say we won’t be back anytime soon. Having said that the course, considering the amounts of rain recently, was in good order and nowhere near as mucky as I had anticipated. 29 players consisting of 27 members and 2 guests tucked into a full English Breakfast before putting on their golf shoes and heading out to do battle with the course. My playing partners for the day were Darren Parker, Peter Steer and Pete Tweddell. Very much enjoyed your company gentlemen and in particular Pete T and myself winding Darren up! If I said ‘par the hole’ Darren, you’d know what we mean! All taken well by Darren in the spirit it was given. I was on for a decent score until I decided to take out my 3 wood at the 17th. Didn’t get any better on 18th ! 3 water shots in 2 holes. Enough of me, there were some excellent scores all-round with the average being 32 points. Notably, one group came in with all scoring 37 points, but still not enough to win. That honour went to Mike Fairbrass with a score of 39 points, who as well as winning Division 1 was the overall winner and took away The Valentine Cup. Very well played Mike. Congratulations go to all winners. On a more sobering note, Adrian Harvanko was scheduled to play but was involved in a road traffic accident on his way to Birchwood. I understand Adrian is ok but his car not so! Hopefully Adrian will be able to join us next month. Sorry for the inane jokes prior to presentations but this was at the insistence of Tim Murphy! So, next month sees me done as Captain and I’m so looking forward one more time to sharing your great company at such a fitting course as Faversham when we will be playing for The MAGS Committee Shield.
