Captain's Match Report
Happy New Year to one and all. After such a great day at Kings Hill and the over indulgencies of Christmas, it was time to blow away the cobwebs on a very cold and frosty morning.
I arrived early only to be told that trolleys would not be allowed! This was very annoying as Upchurch could have given prior warning and avoided unnecessary journeys for those who had travelled in anticipation of using trolleys but not able to use a carry bag (which turned out to be the case). So, my sincere apologies to those of you who could not take part.
After an excellent full English breakfast, 23 players took to the North Course on what turned out to be a bright and steadily improving day, the fears of slipping down the slopes were totally unfounded and a good days golf was had by all. At the end, you couldn’t help but wonder at the decision to ban trolleys!
My playing partners for the day were Peter Browning and Owen Callaghan, really enjoyed your company and steady scoring by us all. Match over, time to shower up, get a beer, then collate the score cards.
Those of us who stayed for dinner were treated to an excellent chicken roast followed by an equally tasty desert. Upchurch do serve great food.
Congratulations go to winners of all divisions, NTP’s and NTP in 3.
