Captain's Match Report

This last year seems to have gone by extremely quickly as I write my last Captains Report.
37 players turned up to do battle at Darenth Valley Golf Club, comprising 30 members and 7 guests. This was the first time we have visited Darenth for several years. I understand there were some problems experienced by Tim in organising the day so we may not be back for a while. I believe the course management prioritise the wedding venue business above the golf course.
The day started with coffee or tea and a nice bacon roll. The weather was quite good although there were some showers during the day.
The course itself was in good condition for this time of year but walking along the pathways between the greens and tees was quite dangerous due to it being extremely slippery with the mud.
The scoring was quite good with many of the players scoring in the low 30’s. The average score was 27.
As this was the last match of the year it was the day when the Champions League winner would be crowned. There were a few in contention at the start of the day but in the end overall winner was Paul Damper.
I look forward to seeing you all at Broome Park in April when the day starts with our AGM and our new Captain Tony Jacobs and the other committee members will be elected.
