Captain's Match Report

On a cold and frosty morning in January, 22 hardy members turned up to do battle against the course at Pedham Place. Unfortunately the turn out was one of the lowest with several people calling off on the day.
The day started with a really good full english breakfast. Although the course is in really good condition, at the beginning of the day the ground was frozen which meant that when the ball was pitched onto the green it bounced as though it had landed on concrete. Thankfully as the day warmed up the greens became more receptive.
The standard of play was high as the average score was 30 and anyone scoring above 28 scored points in the champions league. The division winners were Division 1 Paul Damper with a score of 33, Division 2 was Tim Murphy with a score of 40 and the winner of Division 3 was Mark Parsons with a score of 38. This meant that the overall winner on the day who received the trophy was Tim Murphy.
The par 3 holes were generally very difficult which was shown, as no one on 2 of the 5 par 3’s was able to land a ball on the green. Also no one was able to claim the prize for nearest the pin in 3 on the par 5 13th.
