Captain's Match Report
Someone once said to me "a bad days golf is better than a good days work", Hmm! I am not so sure about that!
21 of us arrived at The Ridge on a cold freezing morning, a course that we had not played for quite a while. A very nice breakfast was had and we all set off from around 9. A low sun made it difficult to see the tee shots and greens were still a bit frozen, fairways needed to be hit if not lumpy deep rough awaited the ball and was usually never seen again, OK enough about my round! Thank you to all who turned up for the day and braved the weather, the course did cause a few of us some problems so much so that 22 points was enough to secure 10th place but 3 members did manage to get 30 points and over. Derek Reed won division 1 with 30 for 3rd, last years Len Hall trophy winner Peter Tweddell tried to keep the trophy for another year securing 2nd with 30 but the days winner with a very good 32 was Dave Catchpole. Well done Dave! Back to the clubhouse where a most enjoyable meal was had and presentations were made. Next meet is on the 19th Febuary at Tudor Park for the Valentines cup, we will be having a full English followed by a rolling dinner of ham egg and chips so no need for tie and jackets. Hope to see you all there. Now where did I put that idiots guide on how to play golf!
