Captain's Match Report
What a beautiful day for a game of golf. We all met at 10.00, most of us with our clubs, to play for the Captains Day Trophy. The Weald of Kent golf club was green and in superb condition with lightning fast greens to test us all. We had a pink ball competition, however my group didn't even make it up the 1st before our ball was gone but we weren't the only ones as only one ball made it back to the clubhouse. There was also the captains putter to play for and this was won by our VC Steve Tothill with an impressive 31putts. The winner of the day with 36points was Dave Ealham with last years champion Graham Gove a close 2nd. Back to the clubhouse where members waited for evening to come so their partners could join us for the meal. So a nice opportunity for us to sit and chat in the late afternoon sun. Evening has arrived and members with their lovely partners sit down for a excellent meal followed by cheese and biscuits. Presentations were made to the pink ball winners we also had a mystery pairs which was won by Dave Ealham and Ian Rowan, Steve Tothill received his worthy putter trophy and there was a special presentation for the Paul Campfield Players' Player trophy which was won this year by Paul Damper and the captains trophy was presented to Dave Ealham. I would like to thank you all for coming and sharing my day. I would like to make a special mention to Tim, Peter Tweddell and Brian for making my day so much easier I really appreciate what all you guys did for me on the day. Next meet is on the 16th October at Surrey National, hope to see you all there.
