Captain's Match Report
It was an earlier start than usual as we were going to play 27 holes so we all met at Poult wood clubhouse for a full English at around 07:30. It was another fine day as we got away on the 9 hole for a little warm up Texas scramble before we played the main course. Play on the 18 hole started at around 10:00. After all the sunshine we've had some of the fairways at Poult wood were rock hard. The ball traveled a long way, sometimes too long, especially on the 1st where the trees awaited on the right. However I thought the course was in great condition and everyone seemed to enjoy the day and a course that wasn't too long and this was reflected in the scores as Peter T will once again weald the axe on some members handicaps! The day was won by Simon Muir with a fantastic 44 points! But other scores of note were David Taylor with 41 points and Chris Lewis with 39 points and both scores would have been good enough to win our day in June, unlucky guys but great golf all the same. Back in the clubhouse we had a light meal and presentations and also it was dress down Friday which made a nice change from the norm. A big thank you to Paul Damper for booking the course collecting/sorting the cards and arranging the playing order.
The next meet is for the Chairmans Trophy at Darenth Valley on the 21st August and I hope to see you all there.
