Captain's Match Report
The difference between the shenanigans at Broome Park and Cobtree Manor was like chalk and cheese. From the weather to the overall smooth running of the day, I can honestly say, it couldn’t have gone better. It all started with delicious bacon rolls and copious amounts of coffee that never ran out; kudos to the catering staff for being on the ball from start to finish.
I was paired up with Pete Tweddell, Ian Marshallsay and James Ayres. The course was challenging in a lot of places, but I have to say, for a public course, the greens were in fantastic condition, ran very true and put a lot of greens at our other venues to shame (not mentioning any names, but Broome Parke, sort yourselves out!!!). The round was full of laughs, banter and great company, and overall, the golf wasn’t too shabby either.
Back at the clubhouse, the meal of delicious ham, egg and chips was served on a “rolling basis”, which worked very well, largely because you all kept up the speed of play, and for that, I can’t thank you enough. If the remaining 10 matches run as well as Cobtree did, then I’ll be really impressed.
I look forward to seeing you all at Woldingham on July 20th, and for those of you partying in Cyprus with us next month, I look forward to catching up with you in some watering hole on the other side of Gatwick security.
