Captain's Match Report
I arrived at the course nice and early as it was such a lovely day and it’s a great place to just sit drinking coffee and enjoying the ambience and views. In my opinion probably one of the nicest there is. A short while later Darren turned up to give me a hand with proceedings and sorting out the new polo shirts that had been ordered, with more being ordered on the day. Darren you’re doing a great job and I appreciate your support.
Another excellent turnout of players (36) who all enjoyed teas and coffee and tasty Bacon rolls before setting out to enjoy a great days golf in the glorious sunshine befitting of the course and its surroundings. The course was in excellent condition and the food and service was first class, (especially the meat pies). It was nice to see over 20 members and guests staying for the meal with others sitting outside in the warm afternoon sunshine enjoying a refreshing drink.
My thanks to my playing partners, Barry Smith, Mike Fairbrass and Tim Grimes. Well done Tim on winning Division 2, thoroughly deserved. Also well done to Mike Fairbrass on winning Division 1 and Karen Gentle on not only winning Division 3 but The Autumn Shield, very well played Karen.
Congratulations also go to all winners of nearest the pin competitions.
Well done to Paul Damper on winning the Summer Match Play Shield for the second time in a row. Ladies and gentlemen we need to up our game next year!
This should have been my Captain’s Day but due to a clashing annual golf weekend involving a number of our members I’ve switched it to next month (with committee’s assistance).
I look forward to welcoming you all there when we will be playing for usual champions league points and competitions plus 3 extra ones!!
